Single Night Of Hot Hell Blazing Flames

The Bombing of Tokyo in 1945

An air raid that killed an estimated of 100,000 people in a single night of blazing fire. "Civilians are defenseless, and this is what it is like when they are killed," said Kanoh, who is 14 and lost both parents and two younger sisters. "I want young people who haven't known war to think about this." Nothing is as devastating as losing the one you most love and to those japanese civilians they never had the chance to have a second thought at life. Life was taken from them at the very tip of their fingers, as like the blink of an eye and everything, everyone was gone.

More than 300 B-29 "Superfortress" bombers dropped nearly a half-million M-69 incendiary cylinders over Tokyo, destroying 16 square miles of the city. It is widely considered to be the most destructive and devastating air raid in history. This has crushed many japanese families, they basically lost everything they own.

The raging fire from the dropped bomb caused a sickening chemical reaction that viciously spread all over the city in Japan. This chemical reaction is ferociously dangerous due to the substances used in the bomb. And when this bomb was dropped it released the chemical substances and killing the japanese people. The effects of this would be that their skin will start to boil and peel and the more you are exposed the more you are to die. This is the most deadliest war...

The huge impact of the bomb blew up everywhere as planes soar through the sky. The land below all became smokey and cloudy. The sky was covered with reddish smoke over Hiroshima, dust everywhere you look. All the japanese people who were alive quickly try to help the injured and flee the area. The scent of char was on the air as fires began to break out around the city. 90% percent of Hiroshima's buildings has collapsed or was dramatically damaged by the pressure wave the bomb caused. I spoke to one of the survivors and here was their response to the inccident; "The smoke was coming in from somewhere above the debris. Sandy dust was flying around. I was trapped under the debris and I was in terrible pain and that's probably why I came to. I couldn't move, not even an inch. Then, I heard about ten of my surviving classmates singing our school song. I remember that. I could hear sobs. Someone was calling his mother. But those who were still alive were singing the school song for as long as they could. I think I joined the chorus. We thought that someone would come and help us out. That's why we were singing a school song so loud. But nobody came to help, and we stopped singing one by one. In the end, I was singing alone." said Yoshitaka Kawamoto who is 13 years old.

The biggest impact that Japan has ever faced was the loss of everything they gained now they have to rebuild what was lost and learn from the experience that has scared them for life, for as long as they live this day will never fade from their hearts.

Is Japan strong enough to rebuild and gain what they've lost or is it too late? What will happen to the survivors of Japan? Will Hiroshima and Nagasaki be the same after the harsh radiation of the bombing? It is in the hearts of everyone that this was the only solution to the ending of WWII, we Americans believe that we made the right choice.

Personal Self-Reflection:

On the bombing of Tokyo I personally think that it was not neccesary to drop the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I think this due to the fact that the Americans only wanted to drop the bomb was to experiment on what they have created, the "atomic bomb." Knowing this the Americans have not really tested it on anyone before so since they were at war with Japan it gave them a reason to drop the bomb. But for that dropping the bomb did solve the problem the countries had between each other and I think that that was the main point. The Americans wanted everyone to fear them so they decided to drop the bomb killing millions and millions of Japanese civilians. Not just this the radiation from the bomb still exists in Hiroshima and Nagasaki leaving this behind it is hard for the people there to live because of the radiation rate.
